One company, three fundraising sites.

BackerBase LLC operates Devotion Fund, Sport Fund and My Study Fund. Each site gives a person a page where the people who believe in them can support them with a one-off gift or a monthly contribution. All payments are processed by Stripe.

How it works

The three sites share one payment model, built on Stripe Connect and Stripe Checkout.

  1. A recipient creates a page

    A missionary, athlete or student signs up and publishes a page about what they are raising support for. Creating a page is free: there is no setup fee and no monthly subscription.

  2. They onboard through Stripe Connect

    Each recipient opens a Stripe Connect Express account. Stripe collects and verifies their identity and bank details, and pays out to their own bank account.

  3. Supporters give through Stripe Checkout

    A supporter chooses an amount and gives once or monthly, by card or by bank debit (ACH in the US, SEPA Direct Debit in Europe), on Stripe's hosted checkout page. BackerBase does not see or store card numbers or bank credentials.

  4. BackerBase keeps a platform fee; the rest goes to the recipient

    Each contribution is charged with the recipient's connected account as its destination. BackerBase keeps a platform fee of 7% on card payments and 5% on bank debits, and the rest is transferred to the recipient. By default the fee is added to the supporter's total at checkout, so the recipient receives the full amount the supporter chose.

BackerBase is a fundraising platform, not a charity or a registered nonprofit. Contributions support the individual who owns the page.
